Machining simulation of Ti6Al4V using coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian approach and a constitutive model considering the state of stress

The accuracy of a machining model depends on the capability this to describe physical phenomena associated real system. This includes material constitutive and approach used field flow in cutting. In paper, high speed (HSM) Ti6Al4V titanium alloy is developed. cutting proposed considering influence strain hardening, strain-rate, temperature, state stress (e.g., triaxiality Lode parameter) plasticity damage. Finite Element Method (FEM) using Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) simulate model. A sensitivity analysis mesh topography chip geometry force performed resulting determination optimal element size orientation. Simulation results obtained CEL are compared with those Lagrangian one. Moreover, simulated Johnson-Cook (J-C) model, experimental data. Both predicted by closer one than J-C combined can side flow, which larger width cut, formation lateral burr workpiece. It also permits simulating cyclic variation plastic machined surface along direction, observed experimentally.
